During 2002, a nationwide study was undertaken by the NCLW of live work safety issues in New Zealand. The study identified the need for a guide for managing heat and cold stress during live work which was published in 2005. The Guide has been reviewed and is now published as the Aug 2013 version. The re-published Guide retains the existing scope and title, i.e. it continues to apply to live work only. However, the EEA has recognised that the Guide should be applicable to all work where heat and/or cold stress are hazards to be managed, and a workstream to deliver this is being established for a further review of the Guide. The amendments in the Guide are to ensure the Guide remains current and are described in the Preface.
