Nicki Sutherland appointed Chief Executive of the Electricity Engineers' Association

The Electricity Engineers’ Association (EEA) have today announced the appointment of Nicki Sutherland as its the new Chief Executive.
Vice President Geoff Douch says Nicki will join the team in Wellington from 2 September allowing for a one-month handover with current Chief Executive Peter Berry.
“Securing someone of Nicki’s calibre is a testament to the role of the EEA and the position it holds in the industry,” he says.
“Nicki is a seasoned energy practitioner, with more than 20 years’ experience in the sector most recently, as GM Investment and Engagement at EECA (Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority)."
“Prior to that she held customer-facing executive roles at Transpower and the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment’s (MBIE) Provincial Development Unit, where she was responsible for an investment portfolio worth over $2.5 billion.”
President Josie Boyd says Nikki will bring her extensive experience in strategic leadership, strategy development and execution, stakeholder management, product commercialisation and background as a lawyer working across the energy sector, to further advance the outcomes that the EEA achieves.
“Everyone on the selection committee was impressed by how passionate Nicki is about Aotearoa New Zealand’s decarbonisation and the role our people will play in achieving this."
“She will be well known to many and is perfectly placed to further the EEA’s objective of being a leader in Aotearoa New Zealand’s energy industry, providing expert electricity system engineering, technical, and safety advice that is pan industry, innovative, inclusive, and trusted."
