Methods of starting cage motors are discussed and the effect of voltage dip on apparatus and light flicker is outlined in this Guide.'Procedures are summarised, as well as worked examples.
Recommendations include:

• Increasing the size of motors exempt from starting current limits.
• The criterion for determining maximum starting currents for motors be based on the "relative voltage change".
• The need to provide data to members for evaluating voltage change with motor starting.
