This is the second edition of the Guide for the Use of Helicopters in Power Company Work. Helicopters are now being used extensively in power company operations and given the changes that have occurred in the legislative frameworks surrounding power companies, health and safety and civil aviation, it was believed appropriate to revisit the 1989 first edition of the guide and update it.

The 1996 edition supersedes the 1989 edition. In producing this guide, the aim has been to provide a set of principles on safety practices when undertaking work using helicopters.
